More scoop on Clinton Street pothole

Josh Guttman | October 17, 2007

I got some more info recently on the crater-size pothole on Clinton and Verandah. Apparently, the contractors-for-hire filled it in with cold asphalt and left the site, when moments later, a street sweeper drove down Clinton. When traffic was backed up from a red light at Congress Street, the street sweeper conveniently got held up right on top of the newly filled-in hole, running their brooms for several minutes, spraying the asphalt in every direction. This explains why there is a distinct trail all the way up to Congress, though I think this was also dragged by subsequent automobile traffic. It looks like someone may have come back to fill in the hole last week, but didn’t bring nearly enough filler. Whatever was filled in looks to have since also scattered, as the bedrock below is again showing. Talk about a story of neighborhood stooges:)
